Motor Insurance Insights
Staying covered when Malaysian roads get rough
Floods, congestion, evolving regulations — your motor policy is the safety net behind it all.
As Malaysia moves through another period of unpredictable weather and evolving regulatory developments, motorists are increasingly exposed to risks that can disrupt daily travel and impact vehicle ownership costs. From flash floods and severe traffic congestion to new enforcement measures and updates in the mobility sector, staying informed is essential for safer, more prepared driving.
Our motor news highlights provide a concise overview of key incidents and updates affecting road users across Malaysia and the region — weather, accidents, regulatory changes, and e-hailing updates. These insights help drivers understand current challenges and the importance of adequate motor insurance protection.
And when something does go wrong, the claim is the part most drivers have never done before. Here is what to do in the first 24 hours, and how the insurers' own apps let you submit and track a claim from your phone.
Making a motor claim
An accident is the moment a policy stops being paperwork. What you do in the first 24 hours — and how quickly the claim reaches your insurer — decides how long you are without your car.
These steps apply whichever insurer you are with.
- Report to the police immediately, or within 24 hours. Late reporting can cost you part or all of your No Claim Discount (NCD).
- Photograph everything before the vehicles are moved: every vehicle involved, its registration plate, the damage, and the scene itself.
- Do not admit liability and do not negotiate with the third party. Forward any correspondence you receive to us, unanswered.
- Call us on +603-8084 4238 or WhatsApp +6011-5589 3911. We will confirm what your policy covers, arrange towing or a panel workshop, and give you the exact document list your insurer needs.
- Submit the claim. Your insurer's own app is usually the fastest route — the walkthroughs below show how it works on two insurers' apps.
Chubb — MY Chubb Motor Assist
Chubb's app carries the claim from start to finish: you submit it in the app, attach the supporting documents straight from your phone — the police report, photos from your camera roll or files — and receive an email acknowledgement with a PIN you can use to track progress afterwards.

Tokio Marine — motor claim service
A walkthrough of Tokio Marine's motor claim service — how a claim is filed, how the assessment works, and what to expect from first notice to payout.
Tokio Marine — AutoPartner app
An overview of the AutoPartner app — roadside assistance requests, e-cover note, claim status, and policy management on your phone.
Each app belongs to one insurer and only works if your motor policy is with that insurer. Not sure which one you are on? Send us your policy number and we will tell you — and either way, we handle the claim alongside you.
