Privacy Policy

Jominsure values your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) of Malaysia. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.

Information We Collect

The personal information we collect depends on your relationship with us — whether you are a policyholder, insured person, claimant, witness, or other related party. Depending on the product or service, we may collect:

  • Details provided in your application, proposal, claim forms, and other related forms.
  • Identification details such as full name, NRIC or passport number, date of birth, nationality, gender, marital and family status, email address, phone number, mailing address, social networking profile details, physical characteristics (where appropriate), your status as director or partner, ownership or management interest in an organisation, your signature, and other identifiers.
  • Educational background, employer details and employment history, skills and experience, professional licences, memberships, and affiliations.
  • Information from claims investigators, witnesses, medical professionals, driver and vehicle licensing authorities, credit reference agencies, your employer, and other relevant third parties — including the date and cause of property damage, loss or theft, injury, disability or death, activity records (such as driving records), and other information relevant to policy issuance and claim assessment.
  • For liability insurance, this may include details of the dispute, claim, or legal proceedings involving you.
  • Health-related information such as current or previous physical, mental, or medical conditions, health status, injuries or disabilities, medical diagnoses, procedures performed, treatment given, personal habits (for example, smoking or alcohol consumption), prescription information, and medical history.
  • Information collected when you use our website, mobile applications, customer service calls (including call recordings), our social media pages, and other digital channels — including your social media account identifier and profile picture, IP address, browser type, device information, cookies, analytics data, and other online identifiers.
  • Payment card number (credit or debit card), bank account number or other financial account details, credit history, credit reference information and credit score, assets, income, and other financial information; account log-in credentials for policy, claim, and other accounts; transaction amount, payment method, and billing information.
  • Sensitive information that may be required for specific purposes — such as religious beliefs, ethnicity, political opinions, trade union membership, sexual orientation, or genetic and biometric information — collected only in accordance with applicable law. We may also obtain information about criminal records or civil litigation history for purposes such as preventing, detecting, and investigating fraud.

How We Use Your Data

We use your personal information to support and enhance our business operations. Depending on your relationship with us, your data may be used for one or more of the following purposes:

  • To process insurance quotations and purchases. Generate quotations, validate application details, manage online transactions, issue payment confirmations, and deliver policy documents electronically or by other means.
  • To facilitate policy issuance and claims with insurers. Share necessary details with licensed insurers and relevant third parties for underwriting, policy activation, renewals, claims assessment, and claim settlement.
  • To provide customer support and service updates. Respond to your enquiries, requests, or feedback; notify you of important information such as policy renewals, payment reminders, or coverage updates; and deliver relevant customer communications.
  • To improve our platform, user experience, and marketing communication. Analyse usage patterns, enhance website performance, and deliver personalised content or promotional materials in accordance with your consent preferences. This may include surveys, marketing offers, or product recommendations.
  • To comply with regulatory and legal obligations. Meet requirements set by regulators, law enforcement authorities, or industry standards; prevent fraud, money laundering, or misuse of our platform; and maintain accurate business and compliance records.

Sharing Your Data

We sometimes need to share your personal information with trusted third parties to deliver our services efficiently, comply with legal requirements, and support legitimate business operations. Your data may be shared with:

  • Our partner insurers. We share relevant personal and policy-related information with licensed insurers for purposes such as underwriting, quotation generation, policy issuance, renewal, and claim processing. This enables the insurer to assess eligibility, manage coverage, and settle claims accurately. All partner insurers are subject to strict confidentiality and data protection obligations.
  • Payment processors and IT service providers. Your payment and transaction information may be processed by authorised third-party payment gateways to verify and complete online transactions securely. We may also engage cloud storage providers, system developers, or customer support platforms to maintain and improve our digital services. These providers are only granted access to data necessary for their specific functions and must comply with our data security and confidentiality standards.
  • Regulators, authorities, or law enforcement agencies (when legally required). We may disclose personal information to regulatory bodies, government agencies, or law enforcement when required by law, court order, or regulatory directive. This includes fulfilling obligations related to compliance audits, anti-money laundering (AML), fraud prevention, and other statutory reporting requirements.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any third party for marketing or profit purposes. Any sharing of data is conducted only when necessary, under secure conditions, and in accordance with applicable laws and contractual safeguards.

Data Security and Retention

We implement strict safeguards — including SSL encryption, firewalls, and access controls — together with regular audits to maintain security integrity. However, no online system is entirely risk-free.

Your personal data will be retained for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes stated above and to meet legal, regulatory, or accounting requirements. After that, data is deleted or anonymised.

Where necessary, data may be transferred to insurers or service providers outside Malaysia under adequate data protection safeguards.
